TRIBOSS

TRIBOSS

The TRIBOSS project “Development of innovative surface technology for high-performance rolling bearings” aims at significantly improving the performance of highly loaded tapered roller bearings used in wind turbines in terms of friction, wear, energy dissipation and service life by developing an innovative surface processing process.

For this purpose, the TRIBOSS consortium investigates and demonstrates a combination process for the production of the bearings, consisting of a novel micro-coating (High Impulse Magnetron Sputtering, HiPIMS).

HOLOEYE tasks in the project

The main task of HOLOEYE in the project is the development and implementation of the core component of the laser material processing system, an application-specific spatial light modulator (SLM), as well as supporting the project partners in integrating the SLM into the overall system.

This new SLM for the VIS (450nm to 650nm) wavelength range is characterized by Full-HD resolution, a high reflectivity, a high diffraction efficiency and a high Laser Induced Damage Threshold. This is achieved by the use of highly stable Liquid Crystal (LC) materials, the development of an effective water cooled packaging allowing an effective thermal management of the microdisplay, and the development of highly reflective Dielectric Mirror Coatings for the CMOS backplane.
