live webinar: Spatial Light Modulators – Status and Potential for Holography

October 7 /2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

JOM webinar SLM holography

SPIE Webinar: October 7, 2021 (6:00 pm CET // 9:00 a.m. PT)

Spatial light modulators (SLM) play a central role in various application areas such as image projection, wavefront control, and light beam steering. There are liquid crystal as well as MEMS-based modulators.

Hosted by SPIE Journal of Optical Microsystems editor-in-chief Hans Zappe of the University of Freiburg and moderated by Harald Schenk of Fraunhofer-Institut für Photonische Mikrosysteme, the webinar will present three talks from SLM experts addressing different complementary SLM variants.

Special focus will be given to the perspective of using SLMs for computer generated holography applications, up to real holographic 3D displays without negative physiological side effects.

The introductory talk will be given by an outstanding well known expert for augmented, virtual, and mixed reality displays. The mixture of contributions is intended to initiate interdisciplinary follow-up discussions of presenters and the webinar audience.

Speakers:

  • Bernard Kress (Microsoft)
  • Stephen Hamann (Silicon Light Machines)
  • Michael Wagner (IPMS)
  • Stefan Osten (HOLOEYE)
